These are all very common questions you may have as you come to see me for psychotherapy.

Let me address these important questions for you.

The first time you come to my office I will ask you to fill out a few forms and then we will sit and talk. I want to find out what has brought you to therapy, what your hopes are, and what your challenges are. Together we will create a treatment plan to address your desires for growth and transformation.

My sessions are either 50 minutes or 120 minutes. I often recommend weekly sessions as we begin our work together. Most often our sessions together are sitting and talking. While I can never say exactly how many sessions will be useful for the resolution of your concerns, it is common to work together for about 10 sessions and then assess progress.

I practice as a psychotherapist as well as a yoga therapist. If it is appropriate for you, there are times I may suggest yoga and meditation practices to assist you in your progress. I will guide you in learning and practicing any yoga or meditations I may prescribe for you.

The turban I wear signifies that I am of the Sikh faith. My name, Guru Ravi, also comes from that tradition. It is a name given to me by my spiritual teacher Yogi Bhajan and it means "wisdom of the sun".
